usa uber alles

pastries, dimmer/d'vrsi

the immigration bill that is currently being pushed by a group of white, white collar, social and fiscal conservatives on capitol hill, who fear for their jobs and safety, another by-product of george bush's war on the world agenda that has come back to haunt him(the first one being the dubai ports fiasco) poses an interesting dilemma for republicans.

when all you have to sell to the electorate is a vague, nebulous fear, the people who've bought into this program will do anything to protect themselves from their invisible aggressor(s), or in this case a semi-visible enemy, hellbent on the destruction of our american way of life.

there is one thing that is on the minds of the people who pour through the american border every day, to get shit jobs that pay next to nothing that no american will want, because it's beneath them. how many americans do you know who will want to sit in the sun all day picking broccoli or avocados for a wage that will never allow them to participate in the consumerist economy? the only thing these people want is a slice of that age-old american dream. the dream of making american dollars.

i've been through this before as i was raised in california in the 80s, when that state was going through the exact same thing. it's like deja vu. all the same fears and anger coming from the same group of rich, white people. all the same lies were being told then too. lies about how all the mexicans wanted was to break into your house and steal our belongings, take our jobs and commit all sorts of unspeakable crimes to our families. the same language of fear, driven into the minds of poor, frightened republicans, only on a much larger scale.

they will alienate the largest and fastest growing minority in the us and force employers to hire higher wage needing americans for positions that pay much lower than wal-mart. this will drive inflation through the roof. the fed raised interest rates another quarter point today to keep inflation at the door, with one more quarter point rise expected. what's going to stop inflation when this tool has lost it's effectiveness?

do they not understand that this means that they will have to shell out a lot more cash when they go to a restaurant, or buy groceries, or buy a house, or do a lot of other things? i thought that money was the only thing that brought the two camps of the party together. the only thing they really care about.

this would be the best thing to happen to unions in years. suddenly there would be millions of potentially organizable jobs filled with americans, not a faceless, transient workforce, with no rights, but americans.

the government would get a whole lot bigger and congress better raise that debt ceiling again because if you're going to look for illegal aliens in every nook and cranny, "homeland security" is gonna need to hire a whole state's worth of bucktooth hillbillies to do it. wait, doesn't this go against their belief in small government? i just don't know any more.

and what about the democrats? mark my words, the only democrats who vote for this bill will be members of the democratic leadership council, a facsimile of the republican party. one look at their website tells you what their agenda is all about, chewing gum just like the republicans. i mean just look at hillary clinton.

let's see how this one plays out, shall we?
