recently took my yearly round trip excursion across the united states by train.
on the way out, i took about 1100 pictures from my roomette. i splurged. the little room was expensive, but worth it for this stressed out new yorker needing time to himself.
this year's trip was amazing. i really enjoyed my time on the train this year. in fact, i wish i was still on it - in the middle of nowhere at 2 am, head full of scotch and klonopin, leading to a gently bouncy 10 hour sleep.
with every trip i take, i notice an increase in the amount of garbage littering the american landscape. plastic bags replacing bird's nests in trees and plastic water bottles replacing rocks in streams. as if car exhast wasn't bad enough, their carcasses litter every ravine.
every part of our country, no matter how remote has become the resting place of our society's allegience to convenience. it is unattractive and sad. but what can you do.
