how to be a zillionaire

i remember reading recently a quote from some nouveau riche millionaire, stating that "if i can be a millionaire, anyone can." the thing about being a millionaire is that the number of actual dollars one has is arbitrary. the purchasing power of the currency is what's important. a person could have a hundred dollars and if everyone else only had 2 or 3 dollars, that person would be a millionaire, get it?

if everyone was a millionaire, the value of a million dollars would be negligible. also, capitalism works because not everyone is a millionaire. some people have a million dollars and the vast majority have nowhere near that. like every other commodity, currency has a fluid value attached to it. the value of the dollar isn't fixed. the more of it, the less valuable it is. the more oil in the world, the less valuable it is. the more gold in the world, the less valuable it is. each commodity has it's own sort of inflation that goes with it. as was stated earlier, when a commodity floods the market, it becomes cheaper. if a government prints up more money and there is a glut, the purchasing power of that currency declines, because it is worth less.

so, mr. millionaire, you are incorrect. in your capitalist system, not everyone can be a millionaire. it is an illusion -- a carrot before the donkey cart. if everyone was as rich as you, you'd be a poor man.
